Heartbreak for Simone Biles on the final day of the Olympics. She didn’t expect this.

Simone Biles experienced a rare stumble at the Paris Summer Olympics, missing out on gold for the first time in this competition. In the individual beam final, Biles faltered, falling off the apparatus, which dashed her hopes of further cementing her legacy. Italy’s Alice D’Amato claimed the gold, followed by China’s Zhou Yaqin and another Italian, Manila Esposito.

On the floor, Biles delivered an impressive routine, but two out-of-bounds landings resulted in a narrow loss, with Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade taking gold. Despite these setbacks, Biles had already secured gold in the team event, the individual all-around, and the vault, bringing her total Olympic medals to 11.

Reflecting on her journey, Biles said, “I accomplished way more than my wildest dreams.” At 27, she became the oldest American gymnast to win Olympic gold. “A couple years ago, I didn’t think I’d be back here at an Olympic Games,” she added, expressing pride in her achievements. Biles will aim to reach new milestones at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
